COUNSELING & TESTING
Director: Darcy Brasure
Confidential testing is a simple test given right here in our office. A tiny needle prick used so the test is virtually painless! Results are known within about a half an hour and counselors are here to work with you if you need their assistance.
Confidential testing requires that you provide us with an ID with your name and picture on it. Results are sent to the Delaware Division of Public Health for record keeping purposes only. Information is kept strictly confidential and is not released to any other agency or entity.
No one can access your information. Your name will NOT be sent to your employer or your school.
Please come and see us.
Anyone can get HIV/AIDS - young and old, men and women, straight, gay and bisexual, rich and poor, and all racial and ethnic groups - but not everyone faces the same risk. Your risk comes from what you do, and who you do it with - that is, how likely is it that the person you have sex or share needles with is infected. But even if you are part of a community with a high infection rate, you can avoid getting HIV. Staying uninfected takes thinking, planning and follow-through. Often it means talking about things that may make you uncomfortable. It can help to "practice" talking with people you can trust or who are going through the same thing.
The HIV Antibody Test determines whether you have been infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The test cannot tell if you have AIDS or if AIDS will develop. It takes about one month after the last possible exposure to build enough antibodies to ensure an accurate test result.
AIDS Delaware's Counseling & Testing Department provides free and confidential HIV testing. Get tested! Take control! The life you save may be your own.
