AIDS Delaware Announces Interim Executive Director

WILMINGTON, DE, January 24, 2012

AIDS Delaware announces the appointment of Mr. John P. Gardner as Interim Executive Director.

Mr. Gardner comes to AIDS Delaware after an extensive career at DuPont, most recently as the General Manager of the DuPont Theatre. Mr. Gardner has served on AIDS Delaware’s Board of Directors for nearly a decade and has participated on several board committees, including the Fundraising Committee. He has also been a dedicated volunteer of the organization, most recently having served as a member of the Red Ribbon Runway Planning Committee.

Board Chairman, Mark Purpura comments, “ We are very excited that John will be leading the day-to-day management of the agency. John has been a part of the agency for a long time, and we feel that his strong leadership and management skills will be valuable in leading the agency as we proceed to conduct our search for a permanent Executive Director. We will continue to provide the highest level of services to our clients and the community.”

Mr. Gardner’s predecessor, John Klein, resigned from AIDS Delaware to accept a position at another organization earlier this month. The Board of Directors has been conducting a search for an Interim Executive Director while undergoing a more extensive search for a permanent Director.

AIDS Delaware is the first and largest statewide non-profit AIDS service organization in Delaware. For more than 25 years the organization has been providing quality programs for people living with HIV/AIDS.
